Parking – Parking will be limited so if you are planning on driving we are asking that you indicate this on the registration form so that we can plan and allocate space. Note that your vehicle may have to be parked away from your accommodation especially since some camp sites will not have full road access.
Event activities/schedule – All planned activities during the four days will take place on the Sakeji Mission School property. We have a wide range of activities planned to include all age groups. There will be multiple activities planned for both the mornings and afternoons. We wish to build as much community as possible during this time, allowing people to reconnect with one another. This event is all about enjoying and celebrating all that Sakeji means to the Alumni and its community over the years. People wishing to visit other attractions in the area such as Kalene Hill, the Source of the Zambezi, the cottage, or Zambezi rapids, would be encouraged to do this prior to or after the main centenary celebration. If you would like to visit these spots we are suggesting that you come a bit early or stay after to take advantage of this. A detailed timetable of event activities will be posted on the website.
Accommodation – Space is limited; however, we intend to accommodate as many people as
possible in various accommodation types including guest blocks, dorms, chalets, houses and on-site camping. The accommodation team will make these assignments and will communicate with you at a later date with relevant details. These details will outline what type of accommodation you can expect and what towels, linens and mattresses will be provided. These items are property of Sakeji Mission School and we expect attendees to take proper care of these items. You will be held responsible for damaged items due to improper use or lack of care. If accommodation at the school is filled, you will need to find accommodation off-site, however catering can still be provided on-site.
Catering – Meals will only be provided to registered guests three times each day. You will be assigned to a meal rotation as there will be multiple catering areas to accommodate everyone. This will allow everyone to experience a local meal, a typical Sakeji meal etc. throughout the event. We will not be able to accommodate special meal plans or dietary requirements. Visitors arriving before or staying later than the catering dates, will be responsible for their own meals. A tuck shop selling snacks and drinks will be open for those wishing to purchase these items during the catering times. Tuck shop dates will be confirmed and posted on the website. Additionally, for those driving, there is limited access in Ikelenge to some food and supplies (snacks etc).
Transportation – It is a long way to come, Sakeji is a beautiful place that the Lord has given us and for those that have not been back, this will definitely be a trip down memory lane. Zambia has international airport arrivals in Lusaka, Ndola, and Livingston as well as domestic flights into Solwezi. When you are registering we are asking you to indicate how you plan to arrive at Sakeji. The Sakeji airstrip will remain open and we are expecting some to fly in directly. If you are planning to fly yourself please let us know so we can be prepared for airplane parking. We are investigating air and bus coach charter services from Lusaka, Copperbelt and Solwezi. As we receive feedback from you, we can work towards the possibility of a charter service which will be available to accommodate people arriving at Sakeji on Friday, July 25th and leaving Tuesday, July 29th. People travelling on other days would need to make their own separate arrangements. So if you are interested in being included in that please indicate that in your registration form. Unfortunately the school cannot be responsible for transporting people on-site or within the area, before, during or after the centenary event.
Internet – Sakeji Mission School will not provide internet to visitors. There is limited access to local mobile providers. Data and phone services should be purchased if needed before arrival at Sakeji.
Photos – With this many excited Alumni and extended family members on site you can imagine that there will be lots of photos and videos being taken and shared on social media with some events streamed live.
Security – There will be a security presence at campsites, along roads leading to the
property, and other parts of the site. However, Sakeji Mission School is not responsible
for your personal belongings and valuables while you are on-site or traveling to and from
the school. Only bring and carry valuables that are absolutely needed.
Activities – Attending, using, and participating in activities and the event itself, is at your
own risk. Sakeji Mission School does not accept any liability for injury or loss of any kind.
First Aid – The school has a nurse and designated first-aiders to attend to minor
emergencies. Please plan to bring any medicine and general personal needs prior to coming to Sakeji as there will be no access once up at Sakeji.
By submitting your name , you agree that you have read, understood, and agree to comply with the above.
