Grade 2 & 3 Update

The Grade Two and Three class is off to a good beginning for the 2014 school year! The students will be writing their first letters home this afternoon, so please make sure and take time to also write to them. Letter’s/news from home are a highlight for any student.

In class we will be working hard at improving our writing and reading skills this term through independent, group, and guided reading activities.  In Scripture class, we will be taking some time to look into God’s Perfect Plan, first at creating the world, then by sending His Son into the world to be a Saviour-God.

We are just getting started check back for more updates as we go.

Independance Day

If the Son therefore makes you free, you shall be free indeed. John 8:36

Independence Day, 2014 – A beautiful day here at Sakeji.  After breakfast, Mr. Hanna shared some Scriptures around the flagpole after we had raised the flag and sung, Stand And Sing Of Zambia. Swimming races began shortly afterwards, with students racing against each other according to swimming seal groups.  There were a few other competitions throughout the day; diving, relay races, pushing various members of staff across the pool.  Lunch at the river is always another favorite!  A little rain came over supper time, but it cleared up in time for the bonfire to begin.  Balloons, glow rings, and fireworks were enjoyed by one and all!

Grade One Update

IMG_3166For term three (2013) grade ones have been having a lot of fun in science class doing various experiments to learn about different parts of plants and their jobs. We are growing bean plants in the classroom and are anxiously awaiting the day the beans will arrive.

Update From Headmaster

Third term has started well.  It is shaping up to be a busy term with the Grade Seven and Grade Nine ECZ Exams, interviewing new applicants for 2014, and preparing for an end-of-term Christmas programme.  We are thankful for progress being made on the student assembly hall, with a new, higher roof, and larger storage rooms.  We look forward to being able to be using it in the coming weeks.

Birthday Party will have the theme of Middle Ages.  Another of the upcoming highlights will be celebrating Independence Day, October 24th.  There will be lots of swimming races, ‘king-of-the-plank’ competition, and then a bamboo bonfire in the evening.

Annual PTA and General Meeting

Just a brief note of reminder that as a part of the end of term program this term, there will be a PTA and Annual General meeting. The General meeting is for all parents and provides and opportunity for them to hear updates on the school as well as ask any questions they may have.

CMML Visit

Below is a link to some details and pictures of CMML’s visit to Sakeji and the area. Tom Wilson, an alumni, was able to visit and see the school for the first time since the late 40’s.

End Of Year Disc Problems

Our apologies, but it seems that the 2010 end of year discs that where made had a problem with them. The disc contain the image of the files ready to be burned to disc rather than the files on the disc itself. Those files can be used to burn a disc, or if you would rather bring your disc back at the beginning of term one, we will have a new one for you. Who knows there may even be a little bonus feature added in. Again we apologize for any inconvenience this has caused.

Birthday Party from the Wild West

Last week at Sakeji we had the birthday party, to celebrate all the birthdays that term. The theme was the wild west. We had birthday cakes that corresponded to the western front with cowboys, Indians, buffalo, guitars, and even a little settler village.
