What if???

Last night, while I lay thinking here,
Some Whatifs crawled inside my ear
They pranced and partied all night long,
And sang the same old whatif song:
Whatif a loin came to school?
Whatif I drowned inside the pool?
Whatif I get a cavity?
Whatif bugs get inside of me?
Whatif some ants crawled up my pant?
Whatif my parents named me Chance?
Whatif the trees grew upside down?
Whatif blue hair grew on my crown?
Whatif I forget how to smile?
Whatif the world stretched out only a mile?
Whatif everyone looked the same?
Whatif everone had the same name?
Everything seems swell, and then,
The nighttime Whatifs strike again!

Independence Day!

On Independence Day, after a lovely breakfast, we all got around the flag to celebrate the independence of Zambia. We started by singing the National Anthem while the flag was being raised. After we had finished, Mr. Young began to talk about how righteousness exalts a nation. when he was done we all left to do different activities. When we had finished with milk and cookies, the whistle went, and it was time to go to the river for swimming races. When we reached the pool, the Silver and Gold Seals started with individual races. When all had gone, we had tire shuttle races. Chris and Kutemba started this race, which was an awesome race! In the end, Chris' team won. We then got down to the final race, which was the relay race. We all cheered for our different teams. Team 3 came first followed by Team 2 since Kayla had beaten Michael (Team 4) by a split second. After lunch we got down to fun. We had king of the plank. David, who had beaten all the finalists, had a match against the teachers (and won!). We had a lot of fun! After that, we had our prizes. After supper we had the bonfire. We did many different activities around the fire. We also had marvelous fireworks with different colour assortments. We had refreshments and went to bed.

The Source of the Zambezi River

When we went to the Source, we found a small stream which looked like the real Zambezi Source. We saw a small path and followed it. There were many roots with holes under. It was dark down there because there were so many trees. There were many leaves on the ground. When we followed that path, we found the real Source. This is how we knew it was the real Source. It had a rock which they have written on, it says "ZAMBEZI SOURCE HERE". The leaves were up high in the trees. The source is at the bottom of a dead tree which had fallen over it. The water was brown when I touched it to feel the spring. It was just a small hole. The water from the source travels underground and makes a small stream. The water is really cold and clean. We went downstream a little way and saw that the stream was getting deeper. The source is between Mwinilunga and Sakeji.
