Applying to Sakeji is a thoughtful process designed to ensure the best fit for your child through an in-depth evaluation and interview, focused on both academic readiness and personal development. We invite you to explore our easy-to-follow application process, complete with clear guidelines and requirements, as you take the first step toward joining our family.

Pre-Application Considerations

Sakeji Mission School is a place steeped in history and tradition, offering a rich educational experience for children. However, attending Sakeji requires a higher level of commitment from parents than other day or boarding schools. If you are considering applying to Sakeji, please take the following points into account

Age Qualifications

To be eligible for Grade 1, a child must turn six before July 30th of the entry year. This ensures that students are developmentally prepared for the curriculum.

Grade Level Restrictions

Sakeji currently only accepts new students in grades 1 to 5 and at the beginning of each new school year. The ideal circumstances is for all students to start in grade one as this gives them the highest chance of success. This is of course also dependant on the number of spots that are open in each grade.

Transportation

Due to unreliable public transport and the unsealed road north of Mwinilunga, parents need a sturdy, dependable vehicle—preferably a four-wheel drive for the rainy season. Alternatively, Sakeji Mission School has a grass airstrip used by small mission-based planes, though flight arrangements must be made independently by parents.

School Fees

The fees cover your child’s board, lodging, and the operational costs of the school, but they do not cover capital expenses. Much of the school’s infrastructure is funded through generous donations from Christians around the world who support the mission of Sakeji.

The Application Process

1

Application Form

A completed application form should be filled out for each child and submitted to the school. The application form can be submitted in person, by post, or emailed to applications@sakeji.com.

2

Deposit Fee

A non-refundable application fee of K50 is required upon submission of the form. Please contact the school for bank details. Cash payments in person are also accepted.

3

Interview

Students considered for enrollment at Sakeji will be contacted for an interview, scheduled between September and November for both the parents and child. During the interview, your child’s education level will be assessed to determine their appropriate grade placement.

4

Acceptance

After all interviews, Sakeji staff will decide which applicants are accepted. Parents will be notified of the results, and those successful candidates must pay a deposit to secure their child’s place.

5

Enrollment

Accepted applicants will receive additional information about specific school requirements for their children. This information must be completed and returned to the school to finalize the child’s enrollment.

6

First Day of School

Before the first day of school, the remaining fees must be paid according to the school’s payment schedule. Please note that all new students are required to pay an additional deposit during their first year, which will be held for their final term at the school.
