Costs & Funding

Student Costs

Sakeji Mission School is a faith based mission that has been around for more than 100 years. The goal of the school is provide a quality, best in class education that meets the needs of the families that make up our school body family. We strive to make every effort to keep the costs as low as possible. Teaching and operational staff are missionaries and do not receive compensation from the school but rather contribute to the running of the school.

Being a mission, our goal is not to turn a profit but rather to invest in the school, community and future of as many people as possible. Running the school falls into two distinct categories;  Operational and Capital expenses. We do not charge for education and the only student expenses are contributions towards food and housing.   The shortfall in expenses, both operational and capital, is covered by the staff and generous financial support of interested churches and individuals worldwide.

Student Contributions

Sakeji Mission School has a standard contribution for each child in attendance per term. This amount is all inclusive and is the same for every grade and level of education. It’s used towards covering the costs of feeding and housing students as part of the day to day operational costs of running the school. Discounts are given for families with multiple children attending each term. 15% for the second child and 25% for each additional child after that.   Additionally, K100 per term per child that goes in into an emergency medical flight fund and is used if a child needs to be flown out for a medical emergency. This fund is used to ensure the school would have the funds in place if a child were to have to be flown out for a medical emergency e.g. to a partner mission hospital. Tuck Shop and rabies shots are offered on an purely optional basis. These student contributions do not cover all of the expenses of the school and are regularly reviewed and updated.

Capital Improvements & Projects

Every staff/volunteer member at Sakeji pays a contribution to the school each term that they are at Sakeji.  These funds along with donations from various people, churches and mission organizations are the fees that are used to build up and improve the school and cover shortfalls in other costs. Sakeji strives to maintain quality facilities and services for our students and families and maintains an active plan to maintain and upgrade the school.  We do not use student contributions for the improvements and upgrades to the school infrastructure. These funds are also used to create a bursary fund maintained by the school used for help families when needed.  We believe that as staff we serve the Lord here and are all partners committed to maintaining the mission the Lord has given us.

Sponsorships & Assistance

Sakeji does not operate its own student sponsorship program, nor does the school make decisions about external funding; however, many students have been sponsored over the years by individuals and organizations outside the institution.

Our finance department works with these sponsors to arrange partial or full support, and also administers a bursary fund, disbursed at the board’s discretion, to assist families facing financial hardship. If you are interested in sponsoring a student, contributing to the bursary fund, or have any questions, please contact our finance office.
